Svella Connect is proud of its commitment to help ex-forces personnel, reservists and their families develop high-quality careers in the telecoms industry.
And, as a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant, the company has now been awarded the silver status from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).
The ERS recognises commitment and support from UK employers for defence personnel, with awards given to employers who support those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families.
And the award – which follows on from the bronze received last year – is recognition of the company’s commitment to the Covenant, which provides support in a number of areas including education and family well-being, having a home, starting a new career, access to healthcare, financial assistance and discounted services.
Svella Connect has a number of ex-military personnel who now work for the company, including project manager Dan Jones.
Now 33, Dan served in the Army for 13 years as a section commander in the infantry. He left in 2020 and says it was vitally important to find a transition into civilian work.
“It’s massive, because it’s so hard coming out of an environment in which everything is done for you into one where you have to stand on your own two feet and make your own way,” he said.
“I know a lot of former colleagues who have found it very difficult, but the Covenant enables businesses to provide ex-servicemen and women with the help they need.
“For me, moving to Svella Connect was seamless, and I think every business should do what they have done.”
Nicola Arrowsmith, Svella Connect People Director, said: “We are committed to doing all that we can to help reservists or those who have served in the armed forces and their families and I’m pleased that our collective efforts have been recognised with the silver status award.
“We recognise the exceptional service they have given to our country and we are delighted to help all of our service men and women develop sustainable and enjoyable careers after their service.
“We provide a number of excellent, high-skilled routes for reservists, veterans and their families to enter civilian employment and we have put a lot of effort into enhancing our training and personal development offerings.”
